Gaspard, Melody and Aramis are our resident miniature donkeys. Standing at just 90 cm tall when fully grown, these friendly minis are perfect for introducing your little ones to animals of the four legged variety. Gaspard, Melody and Aramis are all very placid when being handled, but once off the lead rope they love a good romp around their paddock and you may even catch them rolling about on the ground having a dust bath. On wet and windy days they will either be kept in their stable or you will see them hiding out in their field shelter. Although hardy animals, miniature donkeys do not originate from climates that suffer cold, wet and windy weather so we need to offer them protection from the elements when we can.
If you don't want to be too hands on with our minis then feel free to watch them from afar be it in their field or whilst they are chilling in their stable block. For those that want to be a bit more involved then just let us know and we can introduce you by giving you some treats to feed them, showing you how we groom them and pick their feet and we can even help you take them on walks around the local area. Donkeys are herd animals so don't like to be alone, which means that wherever one of them goes so do the others. This is particularity true for Gaspard who will follow Melody around the field for hours!
Living for over thirty years, our three minis are mere youngsters. Like most animals of significant intelligence donkeys love to play, so you will often see beach balls, hoola hoops and other toys thrown in their paddock for them to enjoy and stop them from getting bored. Sometimes they can get a little overexcited and you will hear them ee-aww, don't be alarmed it just means they are having fun.
